Social Media  plays an important  role  in beauty  pageant. Local  beauty  contests include Miss  Facebook  or People  Choice  Award in their  list of special awards. In Miss  Universe  pageant, online votes is a plus factor for a  contestant to be included  in the  magic 15.A candidate  can be popular through uploaded videos in  youtube, reviews in blogs , and forums in entertainment  websites. These  will  somehow  tickle  the  interests of the  people  to  watch the  show.

Twitter  plays  a significant  role  in the  recently  concluded Miss World Philippines 2012 held last  night.Questions  for the magic 5 candidates  were  coming  from  the tweets  from  the  hastag #MissWorldPH.The 5 lucky tweeters got prizes  too.

Tweet question for candidate #22: As an ambassador of the Philippines, what are the best features of your country that you can project to the world?

I believe that wherever you will go here in the Philippines, it’s not the islands that make us special but of course the Filipinos who have warm hospitality, who are having smiles on their faces, and of course who will treat all foreigners the love and respect, and hospitality that they can give to them. I believe that the Philippines is a country that we can be proud of"

Matrix:Imagine All You Can Be.

Jun 23, 2012

Matrix, the leading professional hair care and hair color company in the United States, and is part of L'Oreal USA's Professional Products Division is now in the Philippines. To promote their products, the company is conducting seminars/product demos to hairdressers and salon owners all over the  country.

I had the chance to attend the MATRIX Education Caravan last month at Dadiangas East Elem,School gym. That was a half- day  seminar/workshop participated by some hairdressers in Soccsksargen.
Matrix Education Caravan
Matrix has variety of products for salon use but  for that workshop, they just introduced Wonder Brown for hair color,Sensoria care for hair treatment and Opti.Straight  for hair rebonding.Since it was a hands-on seminar and we were just few who attended(and for lack of staff),each of us did the hair works of the models  who  were present that  day. They offered free registration and free  lunch plus some giveaways ,so when a teacher(model) asked  for a hair  color ,I offered my  free service.
Matrix seminar on the  go...
Of  all  their products,I'm  interested in Opti.Straight because it has three  variants for  different types of hair such as normal, resistant and synthesized hair. We will  just analyze  the  hair type and choose  the appropriate product. And what's good about it is the hair  can be coloured  on the same  day using  ammonia-free colour or after  two  weeks  for colour that  contains ammonia .I still recommend hair cellophane or  henna  wax color treatment  for  shinier  result.

My  Opti .Straight  hair rebonding kit
I tried the product  to a contestant   during the  Miss  Undadsan Babe Body 2012 in which  I happened to be a sponsor  and one of the board of judges. She is lucky  to have a free  hair rebond  in the parlor  as prize for  being  the Miss Timberline  Beauty Salon.(special award)
   A pose with Paulalane
before hair  rebond
Paulalane's fine- textured mane was  rebonded  one year  ago so I cut  two inches of her  locks to get away of the damaged  ends.I still maintained the long-layered style though,.I used  the normal variant Opti.Straight and treated  it with Henna  Wax color treatment in red brown shade(I mixed two colors)
after  hair rebond
I  think  she is satisfied with the result.I can see  it in her smile...

Tips on How to Make our Bones Stronger

Jun 9, 2012

Have  you experienced  back pain after a strenous  activity? This tips I gather  from the internet may  tickle  your interest.

Keep your bones healthy. Cut down on salt, expose yourself to sunshine and exercise regularly for stronger bones.A healthy set of bones is vital for good posture, balance and strength. Our bones lose calcium and other minerals and become lighter, and more porous as we age.The following tips can prevent your bones from becoming porous.

Eat calcium-rich food:

The daily calcium intake of adults should be at least 700mg.For those diagnosed with osteoporosis,it should be 1,200mg.Include yoghurt, cheese,a handful of almonds and spinach in your daily diet.

Power of sunshine:

Your body needs Vitamin D to absorb calcium. This is found in fish oil, liver, fortified spreads, cereals, and egg yolk.Your body also makes its own Vitamin D when you are exposed to sunshine.Take in sunshine for 15 minutes two to three times a week.

Limit protein:

Excess intake of meat, cheese and protein drains the body of calcium and weakens bones.Your daily diet should contain a balanced portion of protein (meat, fish, egg, nuts and seeds),fresh fruits and vegetables, and carbohydrates (bread, pasta, potato and rice).

Quit smoking:

The more you smoke, the more likely you are to suffer from osteoporosis.

Cut down salt intake:

Salt speeds up the bodys loss of calcium. Most of us consume 9g of salt a day,but the recommended limit is 6g,or just a teaspoonful.Dont add salt to your food.Avoid foods that are high on salt like crisps, ham, cheese, sauces, and processed food like French pies, pizza and soup.

Be active:

Bones get stronger when you use them. The best way to strengthen them is to do five hours of weightbearing' exercise a week. This includes walking, running, dancing, golf, tennis or netball. It doesnt include cycling or swimming.

Drink sensibly:

Alcohol, tea, coffee, and other fizzy drinks cut the amount of calcium you absorb, and weaken the bones.Stick to the recommended amounts of alcohol, and swap your caffeine-rich drinks for water and diluted juice.

Maintain a healthy weight:

Losing too much weight too fast under a crash diet programme can increase the risk of osteoporosis. The same is true if youre anorexic.Weight loss can reduce the amount of oestrogen (a hormone that helps to protect your bones) in your body.If you need to lose weight,do it sensibly

The Health benifits of Pakwan

Jun 5, 2012

Yes, that's watermelon or pakwan.Did'nt you know that I consumed 3 slices of that this afternoon?Oh my, I was really thirsty because of the hot weather.Good thing pakwan is readly available...cold,refreshing pakwan, anyone?

find this information in the internet...

Watermelon, a fruit native to Southern Africa, is today cultivated in almost all the countries with a tropical or temperate climate. It has a very thick and hard rind, with a fleshy center. There are five different varieties of watermelons, including Yellow Watermelon, Orangeglo, Moon and Stars, Cream of Saskatchewan and Melitopolski, differing in their colors as well as sizes. Water melons have a very high water content, which makes them extremely refreshing, especially during summers. At the same time, they are low in calories and have almost no fats, making them one of the healthiest fruits. If you want to know more about the health and nutrition benefits of eating watermelons, scroll down.

Nutritional Value of Watermelon

Given below is the amount of nutrients present in 100 gm of watermelon:
  • Calcium - 7 mg

  • Carbohydrate - 7.55 gm

  • Fats - 0.15 gm

  • Fluoride - 1.5 mcg

  • Iron - 0.24 mg

  • Magnesium - 10 mg

  • Phosphorus - 11 mg

  • Potassium - 112 mg

  • Protein - 0.61 gm

  • Sodium - 1 mg

  • Sugars - 6.20 gm

  • Total Dietary Fiber - 0.4 gm

  • Total Folate - 3 mcg

  • Vitamin A - 569 IU

  • Vitamin C - 8.1 mg

  • Water - 91.45 gm

  • Energy - 30 kcal

  • Carotenoids (Lycopene, Phytofluene, Phytoene, Beta-Carotene, Lutein )
Health Benefit of Watermelons #1 Lycopene

Lycopene is an antioxidant found in most red colored fruits, with the exception of a few things such as strawerries. Scientific studies have shown that Lycopene reduces the risk of prostate cancer and heart disease in people. People who eat a diet high in lycopene are much less likely to suffer a heart attack then men who don't.

Health Benefit of Watermelons #2 Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is an important attribute to have in a healthy diet because it promotes    chemicals in the brain that help people to cope with anxiety and panic. These are two psychological disorders that are on the rise in America today.

Health Benefit of Watermelons #3 Vitamin C

If you thought oranges were the only fruit that could provide you with Vitamin C, think again. Vitamin C is important to not only being healthy, but remaining attractive all your life. Vitamin C boosts the immune system so that you get sick less often and it also slows down aging and medical conditions such as   cataract.

Health Benefit of Watermelons #4 Vitamin A

Vitamin A works much like Vitamin C, in that it helps boost immunity, but it also help your body fight off infection. It also prevents blindness.

As you can see, eating watermelon is almost tantamount to taking a multivitamin every morning, but with a much better taste. Watermelons are seasonal, which means that they are not available all year long. It means that when they are in season you should make sure and take advantage.

When you go to the store to purchase one you want to try and find one that is ripe and ready to eat. The best way to do this is to knock on the outside of the rind. If you hear a hollow sound then melon is ready to eat, but if you hear solid thud put it back. The fruit is over ripe and you won't be getting very good flavor from it. Buy you  water melon and eat it within the first few days of getting it home. Everything about it is healthy, and in addition, it won't leave you feeling over stuffed if you eat too much.

So let's eat pakwan and get the extra boost they will add to your healhy lifestyle..now na!
